NESPOLO, THE ACCULTURATION
With a general assembly of his object research, Nespolo held the Schwarz Gallery in Milan, that opens to the poetic of the extrovert object. Nespolo, who works in Turin, but is also active in Milan with the Fluxus Group, created the current elementary-structural issues in a brilliant "critical key".
It is to proof, through a series of critical operations conducted on the elements-collage, an inventory of things and ideas, excessively to close to each other, this verification involves both the tools (material, techniques, space and structure, training modules) and their use and effect.
With an intellectual mediation that distinguishes it from other elementary structuralisms, Nespolo operates on the meaning of things, rather than on the things themselves. He invented pseudo materials that add artifice to artificial. He built a car able to move air and a telephone to communicate the buzz of its internal motor, electricity, he coordinated the space with metal bars in the shape of beams and used them to create environments that are obstructions, barriers. He aims to estrangement, it's the control to the effects, caused by a sense of subversion, a parallelepiped stack of wooden boxes refers to a primary structure.
But here are the vices of a carpenter, the attached tools that overturn the formal data in constructive references. Or here is a ribbon, secret and inert twisted between two containers in which it rolls and unrolls, if we would only agree to manipulate this sculpture-game and its implicit eroticism. The alienating effect is much more powerful in the puzzles hung on the walls like paintings whose pieces seem to be irremovable.
And so, building is for Nespolo a way to enter a mechanism of action-reaction.
